GARFIELD — One of the biggest hits at the Garfield Library is the annual Lego competition. Wednesday, July 19, will see the Garfield Library light up with different Lego designs to be put on display. The competition opens at 12:30 p.m. Teams of 2-4 people, which can vary in age from 5-105, will be competing in a Lego challenge to work together to create their Lego creation. SPOKANE - Spokane saw the streets light up as the annual Hoopfest tournament took place June 24 and 25. The event is advertised as the largest 3-on-3 tournament in the world. Annually, around 250,000 competitors play in the tournament, shutting down 45 blocks in the city of Spokane, and 422 courts that help keep the competition flowing for 31 years and counting. SPOKANE — The Spokane Youth Sports Awards ceremony returned June 20, ending the four-year hiatus. The event was held at the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox, celebrating top high school athletes, as well as coaches in the Southwest Washington area. COLFAX — The Peter Zornes Memorial Golf Tournament will be held in Colfax on July 8. This will be the 15th annual tournament, the first tournament took place in 2008. The tournament benefits the Peter A. Zornes Memorial Neuroscience Scholarship at Washington State University. COLFAX — The Colfax municipal pool, located near Colfax high school and Schmuck park, remains closed as they are still working on repairs for the pool. The pool, which was scheduled to open early-to-mid June, was pushed back two weeks due to a mechanical issues problem.
