  • Truck fire spreads to field alongside state Highway 26

    DUSTY - State Highway 26 was briefly closed Thursday, Aug. 17, after a grain truck caught fire near Milepost 17. The vehicle fire was reported at about 4:45 p.m., the state Department of Transportation reported. The burning truck ignited a dry field along the westbound side of the highway.     COLFAX — The second annual Corks n’ Caps event is only a few weeks away, with a tentative date of July 22. The event is a fundraiser for the Colfax Chamber of Commerce, where patrons can enjoy beer, wine, craft, and food vendors in Schmuck Park with a planned time of 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Corks n’ Caps also anticipate local bands performing to liven up the park with good tunes to compliment the great drinks.     COLFAX - Colfax School District and several other schools in Whitman County received an unspecified threat involving explosive devices on Wednesday, April 12, with up to 30 recipients in the email throughout the state.     PULLMAN - One person was killed and three injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle, head-on crash five miles south of the city on U.S. Highway 195. Edward F.
