They noted the water rushing over Palouse Falls was enjoyed by many visitors, possibly as a result of the official declaration of the site as Washington state's official falls.     Dusty Selbu Lutheran Church was packed last Saturday with relatives, friends and neighbors showing their respect for local farmer Jim Emerson who died March 24. Emerson was born, raised and, except for his time spent serving his country in the U.S. Army, spent almost his entire life on the family farm. He and his wife Ann had moved to Hill Ray in Colfax.     Dusty Art and Colene Sager hosted the Washington Flying Farmers at the Whitman County Library meeting room Saturday. Randy Suess gave a powerpoint presentation on his travels to Jordan. He also told of his involvement of exporting wheat in many countries. With the farmer connection in the audience, both topics were well received. Two airplanes flew into the Port of Whitman Business Air Center, better known as the Colfax Airport. The transient parking that is all paved with tie downs was appreciated.   • Dusty dog story ends at shelter

    Dusty Last week, Daniel and LaRena Draper almost ran over a dog on Highway 26. They picked him up to prevent him from being hit and tried to find his owner. He was a well-behaved hound type dog but due to allergies, they couldn’t keep him. Darrel Claassen took him on a show-and–hopefully–claim tour of Dusty but no one knew where he belonged.     Dusty Last week on Tuesday, Kim Pitts went to Spokane to attend the Harlem Globetrotters vs. the All Stars exhibition at the arena. He took his daughter Amanda and grandsons Tate and Rafe with him. Karen Bafus had won the V.I.P. tickets in a radio contest but was unable to use them so gave them to Cindy Pitts. When he was asked about his trip, he reported the good news was that the airlines didn’t lose his luggage.     Dusty Steve and Fran Maki have their own version of ObamaCare. Last week, Steve bought an ambulance that belonged to the town of Deary, Idaho. He had to remove the siren and the Deary sign on the side of the vehicle, but the flashing lights and police scanner still operate. It’ll make a great guide car when moving farm equipment on the highway, should quickly get them through any traffic jams at the Dusty intersection, can transport employees during harvest and, of course, is available for any personal emergency medical runs.
