Dusty Sunday, Selbu Lutheran Church welcomed the Daughters of Norway from the Freya Lodge in Spokane for the morning worship services. About 30 women, dressed in Norwegian attire, attended services and were guests at a luncheon later in the church basement where Pastor Cross presented a video of pictures of the town of Selbu, Norway, and members of the church’s congregation. Dusty Saturday, a wedding occurred at the Dusty Country Bible Church. The bride, Katy Moat of Spokane, saw a picture of the church on the Internet and decided that’s where she wanted to be married. Dusty Terry and Janet Eggers and Mike and Patsy Kromm continued the tradition begun by their mother, Shirley Eggers, of an annual Penewawa picnic/reunion at Warm Springs Ranch. Dusty Many Dusty residents were part of the large gathering attending the graveside services at the Rosalia Cemetery for Mildred Riley Friday. Afterward, a potluck luncheon was served at the former Congregational Church in Malden with Mildred’s favorite, huckleberry ice cream, for dessert. Dusty Alex Urtaza and Renee Crocker left Friday for their home in Las Cruces, New Mexico, after spending two weeks at the home of Bryan Jones. Alex, who is Bryan’s cousin, drove truck during harvest and helped with haying. Renee was able to drive truck when needed, herd cows, mow lawns and sell peaches. Dusty Art and Colene Sager just completed a cross country trip in their airplane, a Mooney M20C. In 36 hours of flying time, they saw Mt. Rushmore, an Indianapolis Nascar Race and Niagra Falls. In between time, they spent a week in western Pennsylvania at a time share condo and three days at the International Flying Farmer Convention in Indianapolis. Their son Blake Sager and family took care of their yard and garden while they were gone. Dusty Art and Colene Sager and granddaughter Jullene Sager were in Spokane Saturday afternoon to attend the piano recital of their other granddaughter, Hannah Manning, Valleyford. The recital was at the Steinway Auditorium in Spokane Valley. All of the pieces were duets, many of them performed on two baby grands. Dusty A women’s book club from Seattle spent Monday through Wednesday last week at the Parsonage Bed and Breakfast here. While in the area, they toured Colfax, Palouse and Pullman. Saturday, Di Brink took her brother, Mike Stine, and Norma Gibson to Cheney where they participated in the Special Olympics track event at Eastern Washington State University. Dusty Jon and Li Ochs traveled to Washington, D.C., last week to attend the National Hydro Association Annual Conference and also to see their grandchildren. Li states that it was very interesting to see how hydro power is becoming more popular again. There were two hydro bills that came before Congress in recent weeks and both passed unanimously. Dusty Memorial services for former Dusty native, Kenneth Brink, will be Friday, April 19, at 1:15 at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent, with full military honors. He was the last surviving child of Dusty pioneers Otto and Gussie Brink. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps for 28 years. Brink, who died November 12, 2012, was the uncle of Joan Myrick and Larry Brink.
