    Dusty Art and Colene Sager flew to Midvale, Idaho, Saturday to celebrate Colene’s aunt Kathryn Hopper’s 100th birthday. Hopper still lives in the home that became hers as a young bride. This is made possible by the loving care given to her by her oldest son and his wife, Dave and Liz Hopper. It was a day of visiting many cousins who had not been together for some time.   • Colene Sager passes FAA pilot's license

    Dusty Colene Sager flew a Cessna 152 airplane solo from Pullman to LaGrande, Ore., last Wednesday to meet with an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner to take her check ride to become a private pilot. The final test is comprised of a two hour oral test and a one and a half hour flight. She has been renting the Cessna and taking lessons at Inter-State Aviation at the Pullman Airport to complete the needed requirements.     Dusty Cliff Nolan was memorialized at Onecho Bible Church Monday morning and buried at the Dusty Cemetery that afternoon. The funeral procession was escorted to the cemetery by the Colfax City Police Department and the Whitman County Sheriff’s Department in honor of Nolan’s former service as city police officer and Colfax Police Chief.     Dusty Saturday, Linda Hennigar was at Walla Walla High School to watch her grandson, Wesley Banks, captain his squad of 28 members in a Junior ROTC Competition of groups from Washington and Oregon. Wesley’s unit is an Air Force squad from Kennewick High School. This was their first year of competition.     Dusty Blake Heaton received a Skype call from his grandson, Valente Reynoso Heaton, and his biology class at the Lancaster School in Mexico City. The class asked many questions about fertilizers, pesticides, chemical farming and summer fallow farming. They also asked how global warming would effect farming.     Dusty Carmen Heaton recently spent a week in San Francisco where she and Summer Browner, publicist, assisted Heaton’s daughter, Heathermarie Reynoso, at the West Coast Craft Fair in the Herbst Pavilion. Reynoso has been designing and producing hand-made moccasins and sandals for the past 14 months. The fair featured around 150 crafters selling high quality, hand-drafted items. Word has been received of the death of Laurette Stueckle McCaw of Waitsburg Oct. 6, 2014. She was born June 7, 1930, in Dusty, the youngest of seven children, of the late Jacob J. and Martha Weber Stueckle. In 1936, the family moved to the Prescott area where her father farmed near Clyde.
