COLFAX — Blowing snow and crashes kept law enforcement busy Tuesday following an overnight storm. The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office responded to more than 20 crashes during Monday’s snowstorm, Sheriff Brett Myers said. The Washington State Patrol responded to at least 10 more. PULLMAN - Whitman County has its first baby of 2022. Nora Joan Kawula was delivered at 3:48 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 3, at the Pullman Regional Hospital. Whitman Hospital and Medical Clinics has yet to see its first baby born in 2022. Officials there said no mothers were in the delivery stages, at press time. COLFAX - Serveral rural roads are currently blocked due to drifting snow. State Highways 26, 127 and 194, were among those blocked due to snowdrifts on the highway. Many other rural roads were closed, too, including some where vehicles were stuck in drifts on the roadway, officials said. A Tekoa School District vehicle was among those reportedly stuck and abandoned on Warner Road. A fire truck was also stuck on Mullen Road, which connects Dry Creek Road to Hume Road.
