    COLFAX —The Top Notch Cafe, located at 210 North Main Street, owners Pete and Candis Koerner are closing Saturday, Nov. 12. “We are moving out of state,” said Mrs. Koerner, adding that they are moving to Pennsylvania to be able to watch their daughter play college softball. Mrs. Koerner explained that Top Notch Cafe has been in Colfax since 1938, and that there have been multiple owners, “the most famous owner mentioned was Jim Masten,” she said. Preliminary results in the Nov. 8 general election show incumbent Michael Largent, a Republican, taking the lead over challenger John-Mark Mahnkey, a Democrat. The proposed development is planned for about four acres of undeveloped land next to Pullman High School at the end of Valley View Drive.     COLFAX — In Whitman County Superior Court Friday, Oct. 28 Douglas Martin, 61, of Pullman was sentenced to life by Superior Court Judge Gary Libey for raping a girl for 10 years. Reports say Pullman police officer Heidi Lambley arrested Martin on May 7, 2022 after hearing the victim recount her story describing years of sexual abuse since the age of five.
