    USDA offers conservation assistance COLFAX – The deadline to apply for the 2023 USDA Conservation Stewardship Program is Oct. 13. The program is open to producers seeking technical and financial assistance with conservation efforts. Under the program, farmers can receive payments for managing, maintaining and expanding conservation measures like planting cover crops and buffer strips, as well as improving pollinator habitat.     Aug. 2 Primary sees increased voter turnout COLFAX – County election officials will finish processing ballots from the Aug. 2 primary election this week. The most recent ballot count on Monday, Aug. 15 revealed that of the 22,859 registered voters in the county, 9,596 ballots have been counted from the election. This ratio puts the county’s current voter turnout at 41.98%.     Intersections closed for roundabout work, paving PULLMAN — Roundabout construction will close the intersection of Terre View Drive, Northwood Drive and North Fairway Road through Aug. 11. Work began Tuesday on the final paving of the roundabout. Paving is expected to finish on the morning of August 11.     PALOUSE — For the first time in two years, the city will host the annual Haunted Palouse celebration for Halloween. The event will run the last two weeks of October, officials said.     COLFAX— The City of Colfax is asking customers to reduce irrigation in order to conserve water in a press release by Public Works Director, Matt Hammer on Wednesday, August 3. The City is currently in the process of replacing the Clay Street Well pump and motor.
