Colfax emergency crews responded to an antifreeze spill on Main Street Colfax, Jan. 3. A 30-foot streak of antifreeze which spilled in the gutter in front of the Thrifty Grandmother’s Store was discovered at about 2:15 p.m. Monday. Crews first asked owners of cars parked on that block to move so the long stain could be reached. A thick layer of absorbent was sprinkled down along the streak to soak up the antifreeze. City crews later cleaned off the absorbent....

Colfax senior Alex Teade, who was part of Colfax trophy runs last year as a junior in football, basketball and baseball, and Kayla Johnson, who landed the state hoops MVP for the second year in a row and was a member of the first-place Bulldog teams in volleyball and basketball, are among Inland Empire nominees for the Northwest Youth Awards. Colfax Athletic Director Mike Morgan has authorized All-American Sports Posters to produce posters for Colfax High School athletics. The project will bring much-needed additional funding to the athletic department, Morgan said. Representatives of the poster company will contact local businesses to line up sponsorships. The company is registered with the Idaho Attorney General and is the lone company authorized to conduct a sponsorship campaign on behalf of the CHS athletic department, Morgan said....
A big Reardan team, primed to take a league win over a rebuilding Bulldog team, showed no mercy in Tuesday night’s league round with a 51-32 win over the Bulldog girls on their home court. The Indians were led by 18 points from Kelsey Moos who hit seven shots from the field. “They just moved out to a big league, and we couldn’t get it back,” Coach Corey Baerlocher noted. Colfax boys basketball, rolling off a 2-0 show last week in the Yakima SunDome, posted another version of their second-half clamp Tuesday for a 64-38 win in a return to league play at Reardan. Colfax now stands 3-0 in league play and 6-1 overall. The Bulldogs will return to their home gym Friday after a three-week absence to host the Chargers from Mary Walker of Springdale. Dean and Becky Walker share a ministry as pastors of Garfield Christian Fellowship in Garfield. The two have made their home in Garfield since 1992.
