    COLFAX - A fire started behind a shut off oven that led to severe damage to a home on Dec. 28. No one was home when the fire started, according to Colfax Fire Capt. Tim Tingley. The fire is described as tragic as the home on State Route 272 belongs to Colfax City Clerk Lynda Cramlich, the daughter of former Colfax fire chief Jim Krouse.     OLYMPIA — The public and lawmakers are being barred from in-person participation in the state legislative process again this year in the state House of Representatives. On Friday, House members voted along party lines, with Democrats citing the continuing coronavirus pandemic and voting to continue to bar in-person debate and testimony.     COLFAX — Blowing snow and crashes kept law enforcement busy Tuesday following an overnight storm. The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office responded to more than 20 crashes during Monday’s snowstorm, Sheriff Brett Myers said. The Washington State Patrol responded to at least 10 more.     PULLMAN - Whitman County has its first baby of 2022. Nora Joan Kawula was delivered at 3:48 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 3, at the Pullman Regional Hospital. Whitman Hospital and Medical Clinics has yet to see its first baby born in 2022. Officials there said no mothers were in the delivery stages, at press time.
