Colfax Police received a report Friday at 10:30 a.m. of graffiti markings on a new decal sign which had been applied to the windows in front of the Valley Dental office which was formerly the location of Dr. Jerry Binder’s office. The decal sign had been disfigured with what appeared to be a marking pen. Also, the pen was used to mark the teeth of people depicted on the sign. The staff of the office was able to rub off the markings and restore the decals to their original appearance, according to the report....
Possible creation of a separate budget fund to include all donations to the city was discussed at the Jan. 4 Colfax City Council session. City Administrator Mike Rizzitiello said donations to city projects are now listed in individual funds in the city budget and can sometimes be difficult to track. He said the single donation fund in the budget would act as a trust fund, which would provide better tracking of donations and better ensure they are used as intended. Two charges of residential burglary and two charges of theft against Paul J. Suggs, 19, Moscow, were dismissed Jan. 5 in superior court. Senior Deputy Prosecutor Daniel LeBeau filed a motion to drop the charges here because federal prosecutors are negotiating a plea bargain agreement on charges filed against Suggs in federal court. LeBeau asked the court to drop the county charges “without prejudice,” which would allow the prosecutor’s office to re-file the charges in the event the federal plea bargain agreement is not concluded. The Moscow Macy’s, anchor tenant at the Palouse Empire Mall, was included on the list of 36 pending Macy’s store closures issued by the company in a press release Jan. 6. The downtown Spokane Macy’s was also included on the list. The Moscow store has been at the mall since it was opened in 1979 and has a roster of 47 employees. When Boeing rolled out its first 737 MAX last month there was little fanfare. Nevertheless, its importance to the company’s future and our state can’t be understated.
