    In January 1902, five well-known citizens formed the Colfax Auditorium Company. They purchased lots on the west side of Main between Rock and Brewery (Stevens) streets. The building was dedicated on Aug. 22, 1902. This new theater was named for Kate Hogan, a girl who had lived between Palouse and Colfax and had taken the stage name of Katherine Ridgeway. On June 26, 1908, the Ridgeway burned. It was rebuilt. By 1912, the finances of the company were failing and many proposals were considered....

    A Colfax officer at 3:30 a.m. Jan. 10 responded to a report of an argument going on between two males behind the Cougar Food Mart. The reported verbal exchange between the two led the officer to believe the dispute could have involved a possible drug deal.     A Colfax officer late Jan. 11 discovered vandalism at the former St. Ignatius Hospital building. The officer was in the area at about 7:30 p.m. and noted a plywood covering had been removed and damage sustained to a door of the building.     Mountain snowpack reports around the state are not proportional to the snowfall which has hit at lower elevations.     Richard A. Stephens, 45, Pullman, was booked into jail here Jan. 6 after Pullman officers investigated reports of alleged harassment and stalking. Stephens was arrested by a deputy after a warrant was issued. The Pullman investigation report said Stephens had been sending threatening text messages to employees at Schweitzer Engineering, where he was formerly employed.     A Sunday afternoon blaze destroyed a six-unit converted Colfax apartment house in the S. 900 block of East Street. The fire left the 10 occupants of the house homeless.
