    OAKESDALE — After the Oakesdale Nighthawks won the girls state championship in volleyball during this past fall sports season, many of the girls on that team are hungry for another state championship, this time on the hardwood.     OAKESDALE - At the conclusion of the district playoffs, the Oakesdale Nighthawks took their second-place district finish to the 1B WIAA State basketball tournament.     COLFAX - Convicted child rapist and former Tekoa resident Carl Shelton, 23, wanted on a nationwide warrant out of Whitman County, turned himself into the Sheriff's Office on Friday afternoon, Feb. 26. Shelton failed to appear in court for a probation violation hearing, resulting in a nationwide warrant for his arrest issued by Superior Court Judge Gary Libey.     COLFAX — The City of Colfax Public Works department received a $5,105,525 loan for 20, years for water at a 1.38% interest rate. Colfax Public Works Director Matt Hammer told City Council members in the Tuesday, Feb. 20 council meeting that the council had approved their application for a $6 million loan, which they ended up getting the $5 million instead.
