  • Palouse approves return to three officer format

    The Palouse City Council approved hiring a full-time officer to replace Terry Snead, who resigned his three-fourth time position effective April 30. Palouse Police Chief Jerry Neumann spoke to the council at its regular meeting March 24. He asked that the council approve a listing for the position at $3,000 per month plus benefits, which would total $49,023 annually.   • Triple murder suspect sent back to Latah County

    John Lee, 29, Moscow triple murder suspect, was turned over to Latah County Monday after Whitman County Prosecutor Denis Tracy dropped the felony eluding charge which has kept Lee in the jail here since he was arrested Jan. 10 at mile marker 47 south of Steptoe. Lee had been scheduled for a May 11 trial here on the felony eluding charge. After his arrest, he refused to waive extradition to Idaho where he has been charged with three counts of first degree murder and one count of attempted first degree murder.
