    8 years ago April 8, 1887 On Friday evening last an altercation occurred between Gus Wiklund and Billy Masterson, brought on by abusive language used by the latter. Blows followed words, resulting in an ugly gash over Masterson’s right eye, produced by a kick from Wiklund. With this the fracas ended and hostilities were suspended until the next day when Masterson entered the Delta billiard parlour, and finding Wiklund among the spectators, approached him with the warning to “fix himself.” The words were barely uttered when Masterson drew...

    Pullman’s National Lentil Festival received a gold award for best promotion program, and a gold award for best other merchandise at the Washington Festivals and Events Association’s annual summit awards convention last week in Blaine.     Next featured artist at the Bank Left Gallery in Palouse will be oil painter Nicole Taflinger who is known for co-founding the NICA Art Gallery in Pullman during the 1970s. The exhibit will showcase 60 years of art and will mark her journey as an artist creating an anthology of her work.
