Aging & Long Term Care of Eastern Washington announced that Whitman County Commissioner Art Swannack will continue to serve as governing board chair. COLFAX–Susan Graham had her communion photos taken on May 1, 1971, by Bill Walters at his photography studio on Mill Street, which operated from 1968 to 1972. Over the years, the communion picture has moved with Graham across the state. It wasn't until recently that she noticed the photo had a paper backing to it. Artisans at the Dahmen Barn’s April Exhibit is “Book It.” It features art in the theme of books, folded books, handmade books, watercolors, encaustic paintings, scraps of antique books made into art collages, lino block prints and watercolors on book pages and even ceramic books - one that you could probably hide your hooch in. A private graveside service was held at the Dusty Cemetery last week for a small group of mourners memorializing Loraine Scaggs who passed away March 29 at Whitman Health and Rehabilitation Center in Colfax. The U.S. Geological Survey reported a magnitude 6.5 earthquake and five aftershocks shaking Central Idaho starting at about 5:53 p.m. March 31. Residences of Colfax experienced the quake primarily as the sound of thunder and buildings shaking.
