In all kinds of weather, senior meals are delivered throughout the county and despite Saturday’s inclement weather, March for Meals marched on. The eighth annual fundraiser for senior nutrition programs in the county raised $12,000 and donation are still pouring in, according to Suzy McNeilly, nutrition program director for the Council on Aging. Dusty Memorial services for former Dusty native, Kenneth Brink, will be Friday, April 19, at 1:15 at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent, with full military honors. He was the last surviving child of Dusty pioneers Otto and Gussie Brink. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps for 28 years. Thorn Creek Express bluegrass band will play at the Colton School gym May 3 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. All proceeds will benefit a visual art program coordinated by Artisans at the Dahmen Barn at the Colton School next year. The Whitman County commissioners Monday morning approved offering the position of county Public Health Director to Troy Henderson of Pullman. Henderson is retired from the military. He will replace Fran Martin who is retiring from the department and who also is the emergency management director. Five applications were received for the position.
