    The region’s medical access agency Monday received word it had won a $85,000 federal grant to study the technology issues facing rural clinics on the Palouse. Project ACCESS is a five-year-old medical program that works to increase medical access for the region’s elderly. Funded by Whitman Hospital, Gritman Medical Center and Pullman Regional Hospital it was started in 2006 to serve both Whitman and Latah counties.     Ernie Stensgar and John Abraham received the most votes in Saturday’s Coeur d’Alene Tribal Council election, earning them each three-year terms on the council.     Two suspects arrested on drug charges in Colfax late Tuesday, May 3, were released on their own recognizance the next day after an initial court appearance. Lloyde A. Miller, 35, Clarkston, and Karra Robinson, 21, Lewiston, were arrested on probable charges of possession of a controlled substance. According to the arrest report, officers responded to the Chevron Station where the suspects were attempting to purchase gas.     The state’s Division of Developmental Disabilities has added $31,000 to the county developmental services department’s $490,000 budget to pay for the addition of eight new clients which moved to Whitman County recently. Department Director Tim Myers said part of the funding amendment goes to pay for three new clients that came on during the last months of the funding year for 2009 to 2010.     A break-in to the back of the Grandmothers’ Shop was discovered Monday morning. A boarded-off segment of the back wall was pushed in to gain entry to a storage area in the back of the shop. The intruder apparently rummaged through boxes of donated items in the back of the shop. The segment of the back wall which was boarded off covered a segment of the concrete back wall which had been knocked out years ago.
