Dorothy R. McRae Dorothy R. McRae, 96, died May 17, 2016, in Tekoa. Born Sept. 17, 1919, in Dayton, to Harry and Grace (Terry) Davis, she grew up in Dayton and graduated from high school. She enjoyed enjoyed riding horses and served as a Dayton Days Queen. On April 26, 1946, she married Bill McRae and over the years they resided in Walla Walla, Milton-Freewater and for most of their lives, Pomeroy. Pullman Regional Hospital and Whitman Hospital & Medical Center have again received 5-Star Ratings by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) based on the latest Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems data. The new pastor and family at Rosalia's Assembly of God are Pastor Pat Atchison, wife Marcy and children Chelsea, 17, and Cameron, 14. Official kickoff for the 28th annual national Lentil Festival will be June 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chipman & Taylor Chevrolet in Pullman when the 2016 festival poster will be unveiled. Kurt Snyder of Salida, Colo., won the design competition for the poster. He also designed the 2014 poster. Pullman's National Lentil Festival this week issued its annual call for recipe entry for the 22nd annual Legendary Lentil Cook-off, presented by USA Dry Pea & Lentil Council. Every year, the cook-off receives recipes that use lentils. In 2015 they received 109 recipes from 24 states, Canada, and even the United Kingdom, according to Alexandria Anderson, festival director. Twenty-four teams of college entrepreneurs and five Washington high school teams presented their innovations in the 14th annual Business Plan Competition April 23-24, hosted by WSU's Carson College of Business. Dusty Oscar and Brian Broeckel spent a Sunday in Hay visiting with old friends and former saddle mates at the campsite of the Gentlemen on Horseback. Both Broeckels were participants in the annual ride for many years. Approximately 50 full-time riders are taking part this year. Art Sager joined the Gentlemen on Horseback ride Wednesday. They spent the week in Hay riding to a different location each day. Sager estimated they rode about 18 miles the day he joined them.
