Betty Mae Schmick, 92, long-time Endicott resident, died Tuesday morning, May 28, 2019, at The Courtyard in Colfax. She was 92. She and Jacob (Jack) Schmick were married in 1946 and they farmed for many years at Endicott. She is survived by three children; Marvin, Teresa and Randy. Samuel Pritchett of Rosalia Boy Scout Troop 5588 completed his Eagle Scout project on May 10. For his project, Samuel built 12 new concrete flower planters for the Town of Rosalia and placed them throughout the downtown corridor on sidewalks. The project took Samuel and his volunteers more than 250 hours at a cost of $1,100 over four months. Costs were covered by donations from individuals and businesses. 8 years ago The Commoner, May 25, 1894 On Sunday morning Jacob Wolf, aged 55 years, was found dead on the floor in his cabin on Lower Meadow gulch in Garfield county 16 miles from Pomeroy. A coroner's inquest was held yesterday. A bottle of whiskey was standing on a table near him with a large quantity if undesolved strychnine in it. A post mortem examination showed strychnine in his stomach, and the coroner's jury found a verdict of death by poisoning, administered by parties to the jury unknown.
