    Rosalia’s 46th annual Battle Days will kick off with a talent show Friday at 7 p.m. at the high school. Entry fee is $2 and prizes will be available. “I’m looking forward to the success and hope that everybody has a good time and that they get to see everybody,” said Chamber President Pat Voge.   • Murder suspect held on $500,000 bail

    A $500,000 bail figure for pre-trial release was set by Judge David Frazier at Monday’s first appearance hearing for murder suspect Erik Luden, 24. Luden, a former WSU student, was arrested by Pullman Police late Saturday afternoon after they found Luden’s father, Virgil Luden, 58, dead on the floor in an apartment on NE C Street where Erik had been residing. Senior Deputy Prosecutor Bill Druffel, citing evidence of raging emotion found at the scene, asked the court Monday to set Luden’s bail figure at $2 million.   • Graduation tally up and down for county schools

    In the next two weeks, Whitman County schools will award 306 diplomas, up just one from last year’s 305, even with five districts—including Pullman—dropping in numbers. The slight increase is due to big jumps in Colfax and Tekoa, the two schools combined providing an increase of 16 graduates. In addition to Colfax and Tekoa, St. John/Endicott and Garfield/ Palouse will also see an increase in graduation numbers.
