COLFAX — The Innovia Foundation has awarded $1,089,400 in grants to 112 organizations in Eastern Washington and North Idaho through its annual Community Grants Program. COLFAX — The 21-year-old man who was initially accused of raping a woman in Pullman has been sentenced on a lesser charge. Elijah Nivar, 21, of Pullman, plead guilty earlier in May in Whitman County Superior Court to felony 3rd-degree assault. Nivar agreed to the plea deal with prosecutors after his rape trial in March ended with a hung jury. COLFAX — On Saturday and Sunday, June 8-9, anglers will not be required to have a fishing license for certain species. Trout and bass in lowland lakes across the state, as well as shad can be caught and kept without a license.
