Larry and Dorothy Brannan Harris of Colfax will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a no-gift open house Saturday, June 18, 2011, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Colfax First Baptist Church. Harris and Dorothy Brannan were married June 4, 1961, at Onecho Bible Church. A graduate of Steptoe High School, Harris served in the U.S. Navy. She was a graduate of Colfax High School. Meet Sheli Gibson, Colfax Growing up Sheli Stoner Gibson knew how to sew, but as an adult she has learned many other skills and handcrafts including Brazilian embroidery and glass blowing. “I just see something I want to learn and try it,” she said. With her dad in the Army, Sheli’s family lived in Washington, Oklahoma, Germany and Hawaii while she was growing up. They moved to Lamont for awhile before settling in Colfax in 1979. Dusty Patty and Brett Wieber, Spokane, were overnight guests of her sister, Karen Broeckel, Friday night. They all had attended a pre-graduation party honoring Austin Beasley and Nick Carpenter and graduation ceremonies at Waitsburg High School that evening. The women’s great nephew, Austin Beasley, son of Ken and Pam Beasley and grandson of Cliff and Jeanette Nolan, was valedictorian for his class.
