Cost of replacing the water line which connects the city’s artesian wells at Glenwood with the reservoir system at Colfax was discussed during the July 18 city council session. Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories announced Thursday an expansion to the company after acquiring Sienco Energy Partners, an engineering firm founded in 2008 and based in Bogota, Colombia. Sienco has been a long-time customer of SEL and plans to transition its operations and employees to SEL during the next six months. A stew simmers for Saturday’s Palouse Music Festival at Heyton Greene Park. St. John’s Rialto Tavern The ownership of the Rialto Tavern in St. John has changed hands, passing from previous owners Ward and Kathy Pierce to Marc and Kayla Howard. Endicott Jenny Meyer, Endicott Food Center, is very busy now with harvest underway. She makes lunches for several harvest crews in this area. She starts making lunches before 7 a.m. and hopes to have them all ready for pick-up before noon. All 14 branches of Whitman County Library will be closed August 1-7 for annual maintenance week. During the closure, projects will be performed that are difficult to complete when the library is open, including carpet cleaning in a number of locations, painting of the Garfield Branch and installation of new carpeting in the Oakesdale Library.
