    A Camano Island man was booked into Whitman County Jail after Pullman Police arrested him at a collision scene Monday evening. According to the police report, Officer Josh Bray 7:00 p.m. at North Grand Avenue and Whitman Street came upon a rear-end collision as it was being reported. When he approached the first vehicle, the driver door was open and the driver had one foot on the ground, the other inside. Bray observed an unopened can of an alcoholic beverage on the floorboard.     PULLMAN – Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Washington Idaho Symphony has canceled its 2020 concerts, including This is US (September 26 & 27), Mozart Mendelssohn & More (November 7 & 8), and The Nutcracker (December 5 & 6). The Board of Directors at the Washington Idaho Symphony felt that holding in-person concerts in the fall would pose too much of a health risk to both its patrons and musicians.     CHENEY – Eastern Washington University’s Board of Trustee’s approved a memorandum of understanding with the United Faculty of Eastern that would stave off declaration of a severe financial crisis. All of the trustee’s voted for the memorandum with the exception of Trustee Uriel Iniguez, who voted no.     ALMIRA - An Aug. 10 wheat fire burned 50 acres near the intersection of Williams and Old Coulee roads, resulting in the total loss of a combine.     CLARKSTON-A 25-acre fire that had been contained has now spread across about 1,000 acres after overnight winds picked up. As of this morning, Monday August 17, the fire was zero percent contained.     A Pullman girl born with a congenital heart defect has organized a lemonade stand to raise money for the Make-A-Wish foundation for the third year in a row. Shay Connell had her own wish granted in 2017 to meet the cast of her favorite show. Since then, she and her wish-granting volunteer and family have organized a lemonade stand and bake sale each year to raise funds for others to receive their wishes.
