    TRANSFORMER FUSE BLOWS An Avista power transformer fuse exploded Aug. 10 in the Hamilton Park area of south Colfax. The police department received a report at 8:05 a.m. of a possible gunshot in the neighborhood, and Chief Bill Hickman checked out the neighborhood without locating a source of the blast. The department later learned power had failed to some residences and Avista crews were responding to the scene.     Extra officers will patrol for drunk drivers Aug. 19-Sept. 5 as part of a this year’ s “Drive Hammered, Get Nailed” campaign. Last year, during the same time period, officers on routine and extra patrols arrested 21 motorists for driving under the influence.     Gerald ‘Jay’ Lust Gerald (Jay) Lee Lust, 55, Colfax native who resided in Everett, died last Friday, Aug. 5, 2011. Mr. Lust was a journeyman electrician for Sequoia Electric and a member of the IBEW union local. Born April 24, 1956, to Gerald (Jerry) and Mavis Miller Lust, he attended Colfax schools.
