    Garfield Elementary School celebrated its annual Book Fair the week of September 14. Garfield resident Sally Bishop, who started buying books from the book fair when her niece and nephew attended Garfield several years ago, continued her tradition of buying a book each year for every elementary student and teacher.     Rose D. Goddard A mass of Christian burial for Rose D. Goddard, 66, was Saturday, Sept. 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at DeSmet, Idaho. Rosary was recited Friday, Sept. 18, at the Coeur d’Alene Tribal School gymnasium at DeSmet. Father Thomas Connolly, S.J. officiated at the services. Burial followed at the DeSmet Mission Cemetery. In an effort to cut costs the school is using classified staffers already on payroll to assist head cook Lorraine Salzman.     Colfax Arts Council will launch its third annual “H’Art of Palouse” banner painting competition for area artists. The contest provides original works of art to Colfax’s Main Street.     Colton’s Wildcats and the Joseph Eagles from Oregon waged a battle of eight-man football Friday to debut the remodeled Kibbie Dome at the University of Idaho. The Wildcats are shown during team introductions under the new translucent west end of the dome.
