    At the the edge of Umatilla National Forest, 569 yards of total offense proved enough for Colton to rout Elgin, Ore., 78-14. Opening a 64-0 lead, the Wildcats built their record to 4-1 on the season as quarterback Brady Chadwick went 13-for-23 for 373 yards and five touchdowns. Grant Kinzer caught four passes for 175 yards while Reece Chadwick brought in four catches for 126 yards. Chadwick also rushed for 118 yards.     Public Works Director Mark Storey has officially put a hold on a project to replace the Edmondson Bridge on Sand Road near Pullman. Now under historical review by the Army Corps of Engineers, the bridge will remain at least until next year. The bridge design is what is known as a Luten-arch concrete bridge, named after Daniel Luten, one of the nation's most influential bridge engineers of the early 1900s.   • Commissioners set meet for 2017 budget plan gap

    The county's budget process for 2017 is advancing and, as of right now, the proposal shows a $142,937 deficit. County Administrator Gary Petrovich noted that while this number may seem large, it is a small portion of the actual general fund budget, which is projected at approximately $15.4 million. “That is less than one percent,” said Petrovich. “It is .92 percent.” The total overall county budget is estimated at approximately $61.5 million.     The Inland Northwest Blood Center donor bus will be at a new location when it makes a stop the Whitman Hospital and Medical Center Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The bus will be located in the hosptial's north parking lot near the hospital's staff entrance.     Pullman's Neill Public Library will be closed for three weeks starting Oct. 23. The closure will go until Nov. 13 while the library's carpet is replaced throughout the entire facility. The library said it welcomes patrons to come fill bags and suitcases with books, movies and magazines prior to the closure. There will be no due dates on materials while the library is closed.     The Nov. 8 General Election is quickly approaching, and so are voter registration deadlines. The online and mail-in voter registration deadline is next Monday, Oct. 10. To register online, voters will need either a Washington state driver license or ID card. For mail-in registration, voters should request registration forms online and then fill those out and send them back postmarked by Oct. 10.     The City of Tekoa has named three trustees to administering the Cohn Trust fund. Mayor John Jaeger asked three residents, who accepted, in mid-September. They are Carol Sturman, a member of the city council, Joyce Hanson and Virginia Heaton. The $2.2 million endowment is deemed for Tekoa's Goldenrod Cemetery.     Members of WSU's Sigma Chi fraternity put up framing in the Roy M. Chatters Printing Museum in Palouse Sept. 30 to convert the museum to a temporary haunt site.     Tiffani Emehiser, 38, Dayton, reported to superior court Sept. 30 that she plans to enroll in drug court as an option for resolving a drug possession charge she now faces.
