    Lacrosse Plans are underway for the Hay Church Hunters breakfast and lunch for opening day of pheasant season Oct. 22.   • Credit card fraud outbreak hits Pullman

    Pullman Police Department reports the credit card case they have been investigating since Sept. 19 has now ballooned to about 160 victims. Commander Chris Tennant said they are now averaging 30 to 35 reports each day from Pullman and area residents who are checking their card accounts. Fraudulent purchases, some of them on-line transactions and some on-site transactions using fraudulent credit cards, are involved.     According to a report by Kathy Hedberg in the Sept. 30 Lewiston Morning Tribune, the grandson of the woman whose body was recovered from the Snake River May 1 upstream from Central Ferry has been charged with failing to report her death. The badly decomposed body, which was discovered by fishermen on the Garfield County side of the river, was identified days after its discovery as that of Lavina Hietala, 72, who had been reported missing at Kamiah.     Jeremiah James LaFave, 27, Pomeroy, was sentenced Sept. 29 to 121 months in prison for robbery and burglary charges following what police described as a home invasion May 31 on Northwood Drive in Pullman.
