We have all heard how some have the personality to do a good job. John Hart has the personality to do a good job and be fair. Whitman County District Court needs more than a judge with personality. The fact that he is endorsed by current Judge to District Court Douglas Robinson and previous Judge to District Court and Superior Court David Frazier should be the best reason to know John Hart is the right choice. I was reading a book the other day with the television as background noise. The book wasn’t very good, so I was waiting for something other than a political ad when a statement caught my ear. I can usually ignore statements I disagree with, but this one was a bit much. It told the listening audience that we need to get big oil to pay for the pollution they caused. Colfax was primed last Wednesday, Oct. 17, to meet the ESPN crew which rolled south through town on the way to their Saturday morning GameDay production at Washington State University. Colfax Mayor Todd Vanek Oct. 15 reported to the city council that he has discussed possible police coverage in Colfax with the sheriff's office. At the previous council session, council members were informed Colfax could be facing additional resignations in the police department. The annual Christmas Bazaar of the Garfield Christian Fellowship’s Ladies’ Aid Society will be Nov. 3 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the church. For years the bazaar was a Garfield election day tradition and was formerly located in the old school gym, since torn down. “Everyone came in at lunch and voted,” member Mary Ann Delzer remembers. Endicott Community's annual wine and beer tasting party was at Endicott Food Center Saturday, Oct. 20. The evening was a success, with several wines and beers to try out and Italian sodas of various flavors. The appetizers were many and delicious. First Baptist Church of Colfax will host a dinner and auction fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 4. The event will be at First Baptist Church in Colfax and doors will open at 4:30 p.m. with dinner at 5. Whitman County Library now offers residents 3D printing. Thanks to a grant from the Innovia Foundation, the library has a MakerBot Replicator+. The printer, which uses plastic filament to build objects layer-by-layer, can print just about anything, from a cell phone case to a cookie cutter.
