    A meeting to gather public input on a master plan for the Colfax High School athletic complex will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, in the junior/senior high school library. In September, the district board approved an expenditure of $35,000 to Architects West of Pullman to create a master athletic complex plan, including a topographic survey and geotechnical survey.     Ballots are due for the November election Tuesday, Nov. 3. Ballots need to be returned to the Whitman County office by Tuesday or postmarked by then. As of Tuesday afternoon, 2,748 ballots had been returned county wide from 20,527 which have been sent out for a return rate of 13.3 percent. Voters across Whitman County have the Ninth District Legislative seat on their ballot. Incumbent Mary Dye of Pomeroy, who was appointed to fill the seat left vacant by the resignation of Rep.     The Thrifty Grandmothers were present at the Colfax Rotary luncheon at the United Methodist Church Thursday for the kick off to the Colfax & Community Fund Drive. They were honored for their $5,000 donation and contributions to the community as guests of the luncheon and with a plaque.   • Expect large PAC-12 race turnout at Colfax

    Colfax is expected to mark a big day Friday when mens’ and womens’ cross country teams from the PAC-12 conduct the conference race at the Colfax Golf Course. The event is expected to draw teams from all schools in the league for the race which will be a qualifier for the national finals. Colfax city officials and members of the golf club have been coordinating plans for the event in meetings every two weeks.     Another opportunity for public input on the John Wayne Trail situation is coming, in the form of a series of meetings before Thanksgiving.
