Robert William Douglass, Colfax resident, passed away Friday, October 29, 2021, at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle. He was 46. John Hall Nieman, St. John resident, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. He was 64. Memorial services will be planned at a later date. John Conrad Blumenshein entered into heaven after a brave three-week battle with COVID on October 24, 2021. His wife, Susan and children were by his side. John was born at St. Ignatius Hospital in Colfax on February 3, 1950, and was the first child of Dan and Millie Blumenshein. Dr. Bruce C. McIntyre passed away in his sleep on August 25th, 2021, at the age of 100 years and 10 months. He was under the care of Immanuel Skilled Nursing Center and Encompass Hospice, and spent his final day with his son and daughter-in-law at his side. His life of service impacted the healthcare of thousands of patients during his years of practice as a physician and surgeon. She was born on February 19, 1939, in Sacramento, California, to Edwin and Florence (Matchett) York. Dr. Bruce L. Tempel died in Bozeman, Montana, on September 11, 2021, from Alzheimer's disease. Bruce was born in Colfax, Wash., to Dr. William Tempel and Gertrude Frost Tempel. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1974. He was married to Susan O'Hara from 1983 to 1991 and Sarah Shannon from 1993 to 2007. I am very thankful to have been able to keep working through the pandemic and that my children are grown. What I do see for many with young children is there are no daycares. When mine were daycare age there were as many as eight licensed caregivers in Colfax. A few were large capacity. Only the grade school preschool is open now.
