Colfax alumni luncheon in Spokane honored Coach Len Pyne with Jerry Martin hosting. Jerry put on a great program with statistics of Coach Pyne’s teams during his 11 years at Colfax. Endicott Sunday, Nov. 2, the Endicott Community Club hosted the Annual German Dinner and Silent Auction. They started setting up the event Saturday with a lot of help from the community. Sunday morning the crew arrived at the Endicott School Cafeteria to start cooking and finish up the arrangement of the Silent Auction. The crowd started arriving just before noon to start looking at the auction items and then to eat. The cashier counted approximately 180 people. The state Make It With Wool competition was Oct. 25 in Leavenworth in conjunction with the annual convention of the Washington State Sheep Producers Association. The contest and fashion show involved 18 contestants who modeled garments they had sewn with fabric that was at least 60 percent wool. The Junior winner is 15-year-old Miranda Dowler of Vancouver. The novel “The Girls of No Return”, by Erin Saldin, will be the 2014 selection for Everybody Reads, a partnership of book stores, public and academic libraries across the Palouse and LC Valley encouraging all citizens to read and discuss the same book. The local chapter of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.) AF chapter is doing its own version of “Pay It Forward.” On Tuesday, Nov. 11, the P.E.O. AF chapter will sponsor an evening shopping spree at Tick Klock Drug from 6 to 9 p.m. for a “Veteran’s Day Three-Hour Shopping Extravaganza.” Tick Klock Drug will donate 20 percent of all sales that evening for scholarship money for women. A Pullman police report filed Friday following the arrest of a 19-year-old California man said the scene of the alleged crime was located by following a trail of blood left by the suspect. The report said police were called at about 1 a.m. with a report of a man who had sustained a laceration wound. The suspect was located at a residence in the 400 Block of NE. Washington State Parks is working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to finalize a contract for the state parks to regain operation of the day use park at Lyons Ferry. Parks officials hope to have a signed lease some time this winter, according to Virginia Painter of the state parks. Painter said as soon as a lease is finalized, parks officials will start calling for 90-day contracts for improvements with a projected opening in May. Painter said $600,000 has been budgeted with the focus for improvements in the day use area and boat launch....
Conceptual designs for the LaCrosse Rock Houses were presented by students from Washington State University’s Rural Communities Design Initiative last week at the high school. The WSU students toured the houses and then presented ideas for future renovations.
