    Port of Whitman County commissioners reviewed the 2015 budget Nov. 6 and officially adopted the budget on Nov. 20. Port accountant Teri Heilsberg said on Dec. 1 the port will submit the budget to Whitman County. Heilsberg said the biggest change in the 2015 budget from 2014 is the $2 million for the Colfax airport runway project. In the fall of 2013, a Federal Aviation Administration engineer told the port board that the runway at the Port of Whitman County Business Air Center must be rebuilt to be in compliance with federal standards....

    An estimated 30 truck loads of gravel were spread Nov. 2 on streets in the north section of Farmington. The project involved approximately half of the $8,000 worth of gravel Farmington purchased from the county earlier this fall. The project is now on hold until spring weather.     Tax foreclosure judgments on six properties in Whitman County were issued last week against registered owners of the properties who were found in default for not responding to the filings. The six properties have been scheduled for public auction Dec. 12 at 10 a.m. in the commissioners’ office at the courthouse. Total amount of taxes due, plus fines and fees, is $15,933.     Another 145 ballots were added to the general election count Monday after final review by the county’s election canvass board. The final count for the election was 11,732 from the 19,383 registered voters for a 60.53 percent return. The board officially certified the election results Tuesday morning. Results remain unchanged in the final count with Joe Reynolds winning another term as assessor by a margin of 123 votes over challenger Jim Hawkes. They have hired a contractor who planned to repair a section of wall and ceiling Wednesday.
