Colfax barber Terry Vietz has announced plans to move his shop again. His new location will be his former location at 209 N. Main. For the past 18 months he has been located at 213 N. Main, where his shop occupied half of the front of a building which for years housed the Gazette print shop, later a restaurant and then a consignment clothing store. A March 3 trial date was set Feb. 15 for the hit and run charges involving a injury accident. Allison Goss-Goal pleaded not guilty to the charge Friday in superior court. She has been charged with driving the car which struck James Thompson of Colfax, who was working for Pullman Disposal last Oct. 25 in Pullman. The charge alleges Goss-Goal did not stop the car she was driving after it hit Thompson, who sustained a broken leg in the accident....
Washington State Patrol troopers Dec. 20 morning investigated two accidents which were caused by icy conditions on highways. --Ramon Palacios-Romero, Kennewick, was unhurt when he lost control of a 2007 Pontiac G6 on Highway 26 29.7 miles east of Colfax. According to the report by Trooper Rob Aucutt, Palacios-Romero was driving eastbound on 26 and lost control of the car on the ice-covered highway. Roy Lee Taylor, 70, died Dec. 21 at Alderwood Manor in Spokane. He was born Jan. 7, 1947, to Albert and Ruby Vaughn Taylor in Wichita, Kan. Mr. Taylor and his wife of 30 years, Darlene, relocated to Colfax in Oct. of 2017 to be closer to family. Surviving are his wife, Darlene, in Colfax, along with all of his children. Preparation work is underway at the Bauer Quarry site by contractors to furnish 30,000 tons of surfacing rock for the county. 4R Equipment of Bend, Ore., aims to drill this week at the site between Colton and Uniontown, Public Works Director Mark Storey reported, The $164,000 project is to furnish and stockpile 30,000 tons of crushed top course surfacing rock. Endicott Pastor Fred Tribble and his wife, Cinda, hosted a Christmas dinner for locals who were alone for Christmas. Twenty participants brought the usual Christmas dishes, and the Tribbles cooked the turkey and ham. An extra table was set up for the desserts. December 21 was the annual build-off at Eclairs Coffee in Tekoa. Eighteen students, led by high school teachers Ryan Poppy and Ryan Burchett, formed four teams to compete to build the best gingerbread house. Students got one hour to build, with mandatory tasks like singing a Christmas carol, creating and naming a character for their house and answering trivia questions.
