ROSALIA — Three people were injured in a car crash on Saturday, July 27, one mile south of Rosalia. Brad Olander, 43, of Lewiston was driving northbound on state route 195 on Saturday, when he exited to State Route 271 driving through the curve on the off ramp, striking the embankment and coming to rest in the median. COLFAX - Community members were invited to The Center to see draft visual simulations of Harvest Hills' proposed wind turbine project near Kamiak Butte on Thursday, July 25, and again on Friday. ROSALIA - The town of Rosalia was host to the Rolling Hills Rodeo Association's second rodeo of the year on Saturday, July 20. The event was originally going to take place both Saturday and Sunday, but the Sunday events were canceled due to high heat. ROSALIA - On Saturday, June 29, over a dozen cyclist gathered at Rosalia City Park to make their annual trip up the Steptoe Butte. The group, Spokane Bike Club, was founded in 1973 and has been making the annual excursion to the butte since 1992, as a training ride to prepare for longer distances. TEKOA — A bicycle ride up Steptoe Butte is set for 9 a.m. this Saturday, June 29. Participants will meet at the Rosalia City Park on West 9th Street in Rosalia and will make a 52-mile trek on the backroads to Oakesdale before climbing the spiraling road up Steptoe Butte. It will be a 14-minute per mile pace on the 4-mile climb. The road up the butte is rough with plenty of potholes with repaving not scheduled until 2025. The leader of the event is Paul Brunton. TEKOA — Whitman County Public Health is expanding its program this year to offer free swim lessons for Whitman County residents. The towns where swim lessons will be offered are Garfield, LaCrosse, Oakesdale, Palouse, Pullman (income based), Rosalia and Tekoa. Pullman swim lessons are for Pullman residents only.
