A group of students from Revelstoke, B.C., finished breakfast Sunday at the Top Notch Café in Colfax and walked south along Main Street to the Siesta Motel where they had resided since Wednesday. Meet Dana Carroll, Colfax Dana and Bill Carroll came to Colfax about 30 years ago to start The Growers’ Guide. It wasn’t quite a straight path from Montana to Colfax. Dusty Steve and Becky Camp attended the Harvesting Clean Energy Conference for the western states this month. Their organization, C Farms Energy, received an award as the Innovator of the Year for the state of Washington for their biodiesel project. They also both picked up the flu while they were in Oregon. Tekoa High School senior Alex Overton received $5,000 last week in “Impact Funds” from Wilbur-Ellis branch manager Bob Gardner. The funds will help Overton to complete Nighthawk Court, an outdoor basketball court which is her senior project. Impact funds are awarded by Wilbur-Ellis quarterly to community projects nationwide.
