    Two local girls have qualified to compete in the National Junior High Rodeo in Gallup, N.M., June 19-30. This will be the eighth annual junior high finals. They competed in the state finals May 19-20 in Kennewick. Callie Rae Marker, daughter of J.E. and Valerie Marker of Colfax, will compete in ribbon roping and goat tying. She is a seventh grader at Jennings Junior High in Colfax.     More than 230 flags will be posted at the Colfax Cemetery as part of the Memorial Day observance which is a combined effort of the Colfax FFA chapter and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Members of the FFA will conduct a brief observance at the cemetery on Memorial Day, May 28, beginning at 10 a.m. The memorial flags have been donated by families of deceased veterans who receive military honors as part of their final rites.     More than a dozen volunteers gathered to distribute 7,806 pounds of food to those in need Tuesday morning at Peace Lutheran Church in Colfax. Sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Second Harvest, the food truck supplied vegetables, fruits, bread and 184 three-pound roasts donated by the state beef commission to an estimated 140 families.     Energy-efficiency lighting improvements to Palouse Elementary School and Garfield-Palouse High School have qualified for almost $38,000 in incentives from Avista Corp. The energy savings from the lighting project are expected to save the Palouse School District more than $10,000 per year in energy costs.     Colors is the May Storytime theme at the Colton Library. Each week there will be a craft, stories, and a snack pertaining to a different color. Storytime is held in the library on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. for children ages 1-6. The library is closed on Memorial Day. Ten children completed the TV Free week at the Colton Library in April.
