Judi Dunn-Gray from Whitman County Recycling will share her expertise on composting April 18 at 7 p.m. in the Colfax Library. The new Palouse Food Bank will have its third distribution Wednesday, April 25 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Palouse Community Center. Organizers report they are serving more people each month, while there has been much food leftover. In March, the truck from Second Harvest in Spokane brought chicken, cabbage, beans, apples, pancake mix, fresh greens and assorted canned goods. A local farm donated fresh eggs. The Palouse Area Robotics Team put up a strong showing in its debut competition last week at Eastern Washington University in Cheney. The team, named Sci-Borgs, worked its way into the final round, a rarity for first-timers, after using its wide base to rack up points in the preliminary rounds. Coach Glenn Woodhouse of Colfax said he was impressed with the showing. The team of Colfax and Pullman students placed 14 of 48 teams, but was in first place after the first four rounds.
