Carl G. Seutter and Barbara Jo Ellis were married June 23, 1962, at the Community Presbyterian Church in Oakesdale. They lived in Delaware and then Oklahoma where he was employed with General Motors at Midwest City. They then retired and lived at Hudson, Fla. After two years of RV living they returned to Oakesdale in 2002. The couple celebrated their 50th anniversary with a land/cruise trip in Alaska, accompanied by their children, Carl G. An open house for the new Sterling Bank branch at LaCrosse will be next Thursday, July 12. Sterling opened its new branch Monday in the former location of Bank of Whitman. The building was purchased from the FDIC by the LaCrosse Community Pride. The community group will lease the site. Next week’s open house will include door prizes, food and drinks with a special presentation to the community. Dusty David and Phyllis Stueckle and Ann Emerson of LaCrosse drove to Puyallup last Friday to attend the wedding of the women’s niece, Kari Aune, daughter of Norm and Barb Aune, to Eric Kelly. The traditional wedding took place in the Tacoma First Lutheran Church on Saturday. Sunday morning, they attended a brunch at the home of Norm and Barb Aune. Lamont Friends of the Lamont Library with Ruth Simpson at the helm conducted a book sale in the new Lamont Library June 22-24. It included a bake sale and a raffle. Gale Mann won the grand prize, an Afghan and hand crochet slippers. Proceeds will be used to finish the plumbing, electrical wiring and the framing in the building. They are planning a spaghetti feed around the end of July to further the work in hopes of opening the library in November. Grants and donations will help with the completion. Formal recognition of the work of Whitman County Deputies, the Quad Cities Drug Task Force and the Washington State Patrol was made Thursday in the US Federal Building. Local officers played an initial role on what evolved into a federal investigation on a drug trafficking operation which has resulted in the arrest and charges in U.S. Court against 23 suspects. Pullman police reported Thursday that they arrested the business manager of American Travel Inn, Gurinder Kaur, 24, on probable charges of theft involving credit card information obtained from customers. The report by Chief Gary Jenkins said warrant searches were conducted at the suspect’s place of business, 515 S. Grand Ave., and at her residence. Detectives allegedly recovered items which were illegally purchased by use of the credit card information. Kara R. Foreyt, 19, Colfax, escaped injury when she lost control of a 2002 Honda Civic on Highway 194 south of Colfax Thursday afternoon. The Washington State Patrol report said Foreyt was driving westbound at 4:14 p.m. and went onto the shoulder of the highway. She over-corrected and the Civic crossed the highway and went off the south side at mile 15.6. Caihley L. Crews from Motley & Motley Construction returned last week to work on the intersection of S. Mill and Canyon. The crews installed handicap ramp sidewalks on both corners of the south side of Canyon Street to finish out the South Mill project. Consulting Engineer Munir Daud of Pullman said work along the south side of the intersection had delayed an official completion designation for the S.
