Whitman County Library seeks to facilitate the expansion of local book clubs. Jenny Hansen, back, with her family and her host families. Jenny is a Rotary exchange student from Norway who has been residing in Colfax and attending Colfax High School. Her family came to Colfax from Norway March 30. They spent the weekend seeing the local sights and then they drove to Seattle and down the Pacific Coast to San Francisco. They flew back to Seattle where Jenny caught a flight to Spokane to finish the school year at Colfax. Her family flew home to Norway. Lacrosse The award winning LaCrosse Junior High Chorus, consisting of students in grades 3-6, will perform in the annual spring concert in LaCrosse High School pit Tuesday, April 24, at 7 p.m. Students in preschool, first, and second grades will also perform in the concert. Judi Dunn-Gray from Whitman County Recycling will share her expertise on composting April 18 at 7 p.m. in the Colfax Library. The new Palouse Food Bank will have its third distribution Wednesday, April 25 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Palouse Community Center. Organizers report they are serving more people each month, while there has been much food leftover. In March, the truck from Second Harvest in Spokane brought chicken, cabbage, beans, apples, pancake mix, fresh greens and assorted canned goods. A local farm donated fresh eggs. Annual conference of the Washington Farm Forestry Association will be May 3-5, 2012, at the Mirabeau Park Hotel in the Spokane Valley. It was published in 1912 and has been called “the first draft of history” on this tragic event. This book was donated to the Friends of the Library and is now for sale at etsy.com for $399.99. Egg hunters at the Rosalia City Park launched at full speed Saturday morning. Plastic egges were distributed all over the park. The Palouse Area Robotics Team put up a strong showing in its debut competition last week at Eastern Washington University in Cheney. The team, named Sci-Borgs, worked its way into the final round, a rarity for first-timers, after using its wide base to rack up points in the preliminary rounds. Coach Glenn Woodhouse of Colfax said he was impressed with the showing. The team of Colfax and Pullman students placed 14 of 48 teams, but was in first place after the first four rounds.
