    McCoy Valley Museum at Oakesdale will be open every Saturday from Memorial Day to Labor Day, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Coffee and cookies will be available. Winners of the museum raffle were Shawn Smith, the Wanda Brown quilt; Barbara Berntgen, the big green gorilla; Jeff Robinson, cordless drill, and Dennis Palmer, toy John Deere Tractor. A sign with Hamilton-Brown Shoes and Oakesdale in it was donated to the museum by Terry and Barbara Werle. The sign was found in the Seattle area....

During April and May the club donated $5,435 in response to requests including $350 to the Junior Rodeo Association, $325 for emergency glasses and a trip to Spokane, $100 to the Palouse Harmony Chorus, $1,000 to Future Problem Solvers, $1,000 to FCCLA, $500 for the HIV Consortium, $265 for a scout campship, $500 for a trip to the Future Business Leaders of America Conference and $1,000 for swim pool ticket support.     Pullman Chamber of Commerce is still accepting applications for the 2012 Farmers’ Market season. Last year more than a dozen vendors gathered each Wednesday to sell plants, produce, bread, herbs and cut flowers. Market manager is Francene Watson.     Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Second Harvest will distribute food to those in need next Tuesday, May 22, from 10 a.m. to noon at Peace Lutheran Church in Colfax. Vegetables, fruit and bread will be distributed to anyone in need of food assistance. No appointment or documentation are necessary to receive food.     Thornton Cemetery Preservation Association has received $750 from the Northwest Farm Credit Services Rural Grant program. The grant will be used toward improving facilities at Thornton Cemetery, including a new water pump, storage tank and repairs to a tool shed. The application was submitted in March 2012.     Dusty Last Wednesday, Dusty B.B. Club held their annual guest luncheon in the Jones Schoolhouse at the Palouse Empire Fairgrounds. Approximately 40 members and guests attended the event.     Madison C. Heersink, 20, suspect in a Pullman assault case last December, was sentenced to 30 days in jail Friday after pleading guilty to an amended charge of attempted second degree assault.
