A Missoula Children’s Theater production of King Arthur’s Quest resulted in two performances at the school April 14. Students at all grade levels were encouraged to tryout for roles in the performance at the start of the week and practice for the performance under the tutelage of MCT directors during the week. Traffic on Thorn Street in Colfax was blocked 35 to 40 minutes last Wednesday after a transformer blew up on the north side of Thorn Street near the F Street intersection. Chief Bill Hickman said the explosion knocked down lines on both sides of the street. Avista crews were credited with making a quick response to the scene, but the street had to be blocked off in both directions and that cut off vehicular traffic to the upper Thorn Street area. A designated parking plan for approximately 60 camper units in the horse barn area of the Palouse Empire Fairground was presented to fair directors at Monday night’s fair board meeting. Fair Manager Bob Reynolds explained the key aim of the plan was safety. He said random parking of camper units, particularly self-contained units, created unsafe conditions in recent fairs. An AARP driver safety program will be May 7 and 8 in the Public Service Building at Colfax from 1 to 5 p.m. each day. The eight hour course, conducted in two half-day sessions, is for drivers 50 and older. It addresses age-related changes that can affect driving ability and behavior and teaches ways to compensate. The curriculum is designed to remind senior drivers of skills they once learned but perhaps fail to use regularly.
