    Kaela Dewan of Oakesdale, Anne Fleming of LaCrosse and Heidi Jamison of Garfield have each been awarded a Presidential Scholarship for $2,500 for the 2012-2013 academic year at Eastern Washington University. This award goes to incoming students with a cumulative high school GPA of 3.8 or higher, or a SAT score of at least 1250. Dewan, daughter of George and Angy Dewan, was a member of the varsity volleyball and track teams and active in the National Honor Society, Drama Club and ASB.     The Regional Theatre of the Palouse production of the musical “The Secret Garden” begins a two-week run tonight, Thursday, at RTOP’s theater, N. 122 Grand in Pullman.     Egg hunters at the Rosalia City Park launched at full speed Saturday morning. Plastic egges were distributed all over the park. Some of the eggs has slips which entitled the lucky finder to claim one of the prize Easter baskets. Colfax egg hunters had to select an aisle for the fast hunt at Rosauer’s early Saturday morning.   • Area robot team posts strong rookie showing

    The Palouse Area Robotics Team put up a strong showing in its debut competition last week at Eastern Washington University in Cheney. The team, named Sci-Borgs, worked its way into the final round, a rarity for first-timers, after using its wide base to rack up points in the preliminary rounds. Coach Glenn Woodhouse of Colfax said he was impressed with the showing. The team of Colfax and Pullman students placed 14 of 48 teams, but was in first place after the first four rounds.     Pullman’s National Lentil Festival received a gold award for best promotion program, and a gold award for best other merchandise at the Washington Festivals and Events Association’s annual summit awards convention last week in Blaine.     Next featured artist at the Bank Left Gallery in Palouse will be oil painter Nicole Taflinger who is known for co-founding the NICA Art Gallery in Pullman during the 1970s.
