    Dusty David and Phyllis Stueckle were in Coeur d’Alene Saturday and Sunday. Granddaughter Ashleigh Stueckle, daughter of Doug and Cheryl Stueckle, performed in a concert Saturday evening as a member of the Coeur d’Alene Symphony Orchestra. Linda Hennigar spent from Wednesday to Saturday in the Tri-Cities last week. She attended grandson Wesley’s baseball games on Wednesday and Friday.     Thirty-two Corvettes rolled through Colfax Sunday on a tour of the Spokane Corvette Club. Tour members traveled south on Highway 195, made a luncheon stop in Clarkston and then went downstream along the Snake River to Wawawai.     Derek McClintock, Colfax 2001 grad who is now pursuing a career as a helicopter pilot, was featured in the April-May edition of Vertical, a trade magazine for helicopter pilots. McClintock is in San Diego where he is employed with Heliquest on the Sunrise project to install a power line from the Mexican border to the mountains of San Diego.     A Spokane resident, Thomas E. McCracken, 64, died at the scene of a motorcycle accident on the Rock Lake Road just south of the Dewey Road intersection late Sunday morning. Also, two Spokane Valley residents, Gary A. Morris, 54, and April M. Morris, 48, were injured when their motorcycle spilled at the same location.   • Transformer blast blocks Thorn

    Traffic on Thorn Street in Colfax was blocked 35 to 40 minutes last Wednesday after a transformer blew up on the north side of Thorn Street near the F Street intersection. Chief Bill Hickman said the explosion knocked down lines on both sides of the street. Avista crews were credited with making a quick response to the scene, but the street had to be blocked off in both directions and that cut off vehicular traffic to the upper Thorn Street area.     A designated parking plan for approximately 60 camper units in the horse barn area of the Palouse Empire Fairground was presented to fair directors at Monday night’s fair board meeting. Fair Manager Bob Reynolds explained the key aim of the plan was safety. He said random parking of camper units, particularly self-contained units, created unsafe conditions in recent fairs.     An AARP driver safety program will be May 7 and 8 in the Public Service Building at Colfax from 1 to 5 p.m. each day. The eight hour course, conducted in two half-day sessions, is for drivers 50 and older. It addresses age-related changes that can affect driving ability and behavior and teaches ways to compensate.
