Lamont The Lamont Community Church had its annual business reports after a potluck dinner on Sunday. After the reports were given a business meeting was conducted. During church, Thomas Nu and Jean Stromberger played a duet on the piano that was appreciated by the congregation. Reardan High School girls’ basketball team coached by Ed Shields of Lamont won the state 2B girls basketball championship on March 5 at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena. Rosalia girls basketball team wrapped up their season with a potluck dinner March 11. Coached by Dave St. John and Tysen Blank, the girls post a 15-9 records in the SE 1B league. The team grade average was 3.63. Senior Kaileigh Wendt, received the inspirational and captains award. Samantha Barnes, the other senior on the team was credited for her hard work. Dusty Carol Kyllo spent two days in Spokane last week at the home of her daughter’s family, Tami and Wayne Haas and children. She attended a performance of Ferris High School’s parents’ annual fundraiser, Ham on Regal. This year’s performance was called “Hollywood Hogwash - A Ham on Regal Mystery”. For the Huberts, baking is a family affair, especially when it comes to baking in their outdoor hearth. Michelle makes the dough for bread or pizza and Michael oversees the hearth. Lamont Art Swannack traveled to Denver last Thursday for the spring American Sheep Industry (ASI) board meeting. This is the meeting when all the national council and committee assignments are decided upon. Art was appointed chair of the Resource Management Council, which oversees natural resource, predator and public lands issues for ASI. Empire begins season with new lights, carpet Tekoa’s Empire Theatre sparkled for its season opener Saturday night with the results of the latest restoration efforts. Two vintage replica lighting fixtures have been installed in the theatre lobby. The chrome tube lights conform with the art deco decor of the theater. The other addition is a new red, diamond pattern rug for the lobby and aisles. The rug replaces a rug that “just couldn’t take another piece of duct tape,” according to Cheryl Morgan, one of the leaders in the restoration effort.... Full story
More than 110 books were ordered at Palouse Library with the help of proceeds from the Thanksgiving Turkey Leg fun run that raised more than $2,000 for the purchase. Approximately 80 of the books have arrived to date. A new display of artwork will be exhibited March 15 until April 19 at the library.
