Malden Librarian Shannon Roe urges residents to fill out the survey enclosed with the water bill this month and return it to the library or town hall by Dec. 31. She hopes the survey will help her find ways to provide better service. Also, by becoming a Friend of the Malden Library with a small donation residents can support programs for kids and adults. Colfax native Esther Lee Koch marked her 99th birthday last Wednesday. Esther has lived in a family adult home in the Spokane Valley for the last 10 years. Born Nov. 24, 1911, in Colfax, to William and Pearl Lee, she was raised in Penawawa, where her family had an orchard. A 1932 graduate of Colfax High School, Esther married Clark D. Koch in 1933 and they were married for 73 years until Clark’s death in 2005. Thrift Shop will support 6 agencies The Thrift Shop in the Community Congre-gational United Church of Christ in Pullman this year will donate a portion of its profits to Pullman United Way, Pullman Child Welfare, Community Action Center, WSU Interfaith House, N-Sid-Sen Camp on Lake Coeur d'Alene, and Alternatives to Violence.
