The annual library penny drive at Garfield Library brought in over $144 in change. Children in the kindergarten-first class topped the donation competition to win an ice cream party. The branch also received large glass jars and plastic baggies of change from Garfield residents who wanted their saved pennies to go towards a good cause. Uniontown’s sausage feed logo contest deadline is approaching. Artisans at the Dahmen Barn will accept entries through June 1. The Sausage Feed in Uniontown has been held annually since 1954, and a catchy graphic identity for the event is desired for use in the 2011 publicity. Extend elevator, silo exhibit at Dahmen The exhibit of timber grain elevators and silos of the Palouse at Dahmen Barn in Uniontown has been extended through May during regular open hours, Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This exhibit was curated by two architects and includes photos, models and designs by WSU architecture students for the creative re-use of several grain elevators that are presently vacant. Rosalia “Mr. Texaco” Mike Day holds up a plaque proclaiming the Rosalia Central Service Station’s listing on the Washington Heritage Register and the National Register of Historic Places. The plaque will soon be hung on the Texaco station, which was built in 1923 by original proprietor C.J. Hall.
