Garfield-Palouse Middle School choir members and grade school students put on Santa hats and went “get well” caroling in Palouse Dec. 18, bringing holiday cheer and best wishes for a speedy recovery to Palouse resident Amy Hoffman. Lamont Diane Cook returned home Tuesday after spending three days in Norfolk, Va., as guest of her brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Ilene Dickinson. She then flew to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where she met up with Allen’s cousins and husbands, Donna (Cook) and Don Harbaugh, Missoula, Mont., Paula Cook, Nancy (Cook) and Dave Klotz, Tacoma and Shirley (Cook) and Larry Benson, Vancouver. In 1998, Linda Marler and her husband, Martin, were invited to a meeting for the Whitman Hospital Foundation. The foundation was looking for people interested in helping reach its goal of securing a rainy day fund for the hospital. Linda, during her life, had already seen the hospital turn around from a struggling entity to a successful establishment. “If we wanted to keep that going, we needed people to get involved,” she said. Palouse Market will aid SACK projects McLeod’s Palouse Market in Palouse will donate a portion of all sales Saturday, Dec. 19, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to Support And Caring for Kids which helps fund scholarships for Garfield and Palouse graduating seniors, as well as supporting other school activities. Tekoa Portia Pillig, owner of Tekoa’s Variety Store, for the fourth year has headed up Tekoa’s Giving Tree to children of her hometown. “I want to be sure that every child has something to open under the tree,” Portia stated. ROSALIA Choirs from the Assembly of God and United Methodist Church in Rosalia have combined to present two performances of the Christmas Cantata “O Night Devine.” The first performance will be Sunday, Dec. 20, at 6 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church. Meet Amy Warwick, Oakesdale When Amy Warwick became pregnant with her youngest son, her husband, Waverly, suggested she quit commuting to Liberty Lake for work and stay home. Amy asked what would she do if she stayed home and Waverly said take care of five children, work on the farm and write a book. Although Amy had been writing since she was a young child, she had never made it a priority.
