The St. John Cub Scout Troop helped decorate the library for the holidays again this year. Two trees in the children’s area have a scouting theme. The Friends of the Library provided snacks for the event. Alison Harder, daughter of Ron and Marilyn Harder of Colfax, and Curtis Persons, son of Jerry and Candice Persons of Fife, were married July 10, 2009 at Youngberg Hill Winery in McMinnville, Ore., at 5 p.m. The Rev. Michael J. Graef, former pastor of the Colfax United Methodist Church, officiated at the ceremony. Music for the pre-and post-ceremony was provided by Brian Granse, friend and neighbor of the bride. Oakesdale Oakesdale High School’s all school reunion committee has started meeting and have set the reunion date for Saturday, July 3. They are looking for volunteers to help organize the reunion and they will meet next Sunday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. at the Oakesdale museum. For more information, contact Barb Seutter. LaCrosse More than 50 excited children from ages three weeks to 13 years came to visit and have their picture taken with Santa Saturday. Steptoe students mark last Library stop Steptoe School students visited the Whitman County Library building for the last time before renovation. Steptoe makes regular monthly visits to the Colfax library for materials and programs. Due to the renovation, Youth Services Manager Sheri Miller will take the books to Steptoe. Endicott is getting ready for the Christmas season. Tuesday, Endicott/St. John Junior High students helped Community Club members set up Christmas lights and paint the business windows with Christmas scenes. Tekoa A cow moose and a young bull have been spotted at many locations in Tekoa. Dave and Laurie Shrope, living on the south side of town, have discovered moose noseprints on their front window, and were startled when they opened their drapes one morning to see the cow moose staring back at them. Dave said they bed down in their front yard or the old school yard lot behind their residence frequently. The cow simply grazes, but the bull is more destructive. Meet Mary Kaye Stelzer, Pine City When Mary Kaye Stelzer was four years old, she started to collect horse figures. She never had a horse of her own growing up, but purchased the little figurines in Pine City, Thornton and Colfax. “I even liked the smell of horses when I was a kid,” Mary Kaye recalled.
